Dear Sisters,
I pray this note finds you resting in God’s presence, even in the middle of your busy days. I’ve been reflecting on something I would like to share with you, especially for those of you walking through difficult seasons.
As we face trials, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but we’re reminded in James 1:2-5 that these moments aren’t wasted by God. The apostle James says:
“Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing. Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:2-5)
At first glance, it can feel impossible to consider joy in the middle of a trial. But James is reminding us that God uses those very trials to shape us. When life feels heavy, we can trust that God is refining us, making us more like Him, and growing us in endurance and maturity.
I remember when we went through a really tough time. The pain was so deep, and I couldn’t even put it into words, it broke my heart. But as I walked through those struggles, things eventually got easier. Our skin gets thicker, the fog starts to lift, and we realize that what’s really in our hearts will eventually come out. I have to confess, if the old me had been there, I would’ve gone after those who hurt me and my family without a second thought.
But God has been so faithful to transform my heart. I’ve learned that suffering doesn’t just hurt, it builds character. Romans 5:3-4 says, “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.” Through the hard times, God is doing a deep work in us, shaping us more into His image.
I have learned to pray for a clean heart, for healing, and most of all, for strength to not grow bitter. When life gets hard, I lean into God’s goodness and focus on His faithfulness. And in those moments, I pray for protection over my heart, knowing that the enemy would love to take advantage of our wounds.
“Above all, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)
Sisters, if you find yourself in a trial today, take heart. God is using this to sanctify you, to grow you, and to bring you to a place where you lack nothing. He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Let’s trust His process, find joy in the struggle, and keep our eyes fixed on His goodness. And as we pray for protection over our hearts, let’s keep praying for the wisdom to see His hand at work in every circumstance.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
I’m praying for each of you today, trusting that God’s goodness will shine through, even in the hardest moments.
Much love,
Andrea
