This is my second Christmas without my mom, and some days are just plain hard. Even though I know I’ll see her again one day because of the promise we have in Christ, it still hurts. I miss the simple things—calling her to share something silly, asking for her prayers, or just hearing her voice as we talked about life. Grief is a reminder of how deeply we loved and were loved, but it also points us to the One who provides a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Maybe this season finds you mourning too—whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a job, a friendship, or even the health and strength you used to have. Loss comes in many forms, and it can leave us feeling empty. But we’re not without hope. This season is a celebration of Jesus, the Savior who stepped into our broken world to heal, redeem, and restore. He came to bind up the brokenhearted, to bring good news to the poor, and to comfort all who mourn (Isaiah 61:1-3). He’s the One who is always near to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
If you’re feeling the weight of loss or sadness, I want you to know that you’re not alone. I am here for you, ready to listen, pray, or just sit with you in the quiet moments. Let’s lean into the hope that Jesus brings, the hope that sustains us even when life feels overwhelming.
And as hard as it might be, let’s also rejoice. Not because life is easy, but because the One we celebrate this season is faithful. He promises to carry us through every valley (Psalm 23:4) and to trade our sorrows for joy in His presence (Psalm 30:5). Let’s fix our hearts on the truth that He is Emmanuel, God with us, walking beside us every step of the way (Matthew 1:23).
Friend, I pray you’ll find comfort in His love and strength in His promises. Remember, His mercies are new every morning, and His faithfulness is great (Lamentations 3:22-23). Whatever you’re carrying, lay it at His feet and trust Him to hold you up. You are deeply loved, and brighter days are ahead. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and rejoice in the hope we have through Him. ❤️
