Then there are lifelong friends. Even if years pass without seeing each other, when you reconnect, it’s as if no time has passed at all! As I grow older, I realize one of the most precious gifts God has given me is my "God-connected" friends—those who sense when you need prayer, even when you haven’t spoken a word. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve prayed for someone, only to receive a message saying, "Hey, I’ve been thinking about you and praying for you today," or "You were on my heart; sending blessings your way!"—and vice versa. Sometimes, I’ll text someone, only to find out they’ve just been praying for me or thinking of me. These moments fill me with joy—and sometimes, tears.
As the seasons shift and fall begins today, I’m reminded that life’s seasons change too. Some friendships come with the warm embrace of summer, while others bring the cool, refreshing winds of autumn. Some endure the coldest winters and then bloom again in the spring. But in every season, God is faithful to provide exactly what we need. Romans 8:28 tells us, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Whether it’s a season of growth or a time for letting go, God is working for our good in every friendship He places in our lives.
Proverbs 27:9 reminds us, "A sweet friendship refreshes the soul." Whether brief or lasting, friendships are a gift from God, nurturing our hearts and encouraging us through life’s transitions.
Sometimes, letting go is part of God's plan, creating space for new growth, new connections, and deeper roots in Him. Other times, friendships stand firm, weathering every storm and change. Either way, I’m reminded that whether seasonal or lifelong, each friend is a reflection of God’s love and care for us.
Friendships that span seasons remind me that, through all the changes, God's love remains constant. In every encouraging message and every whispered prayer, He shows us that we are never walking alone.
As we embrace this season of change, let us hold on to the promise of Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint."
Happy First Day of Fall, y’all!
